How much do creative agencies charge? Every US route, priced off the vendor's own page

Every route a US buyer has to a finished ad, priced from each vendor's own page on September 3, 2026: design subscriptions, AI seats, UGC marketplaces, freelancers, agencies and an in-house hire. Including the rows where a $14 seat beats us.

What is in here
  1. What does ad creative cost in the US, by route?
  2. The top of the market stopped printing prices
  3. What does one finished asset cost on each route?
  4. Where a $14 seat beats a studio on price
  5. Should you hire someone in-house instead?
  6. What the industry publishes instead of a rate
The short answer

Read off each vendor's own page on September 3, 2026: a design subscription runs $699 to $4,995 a month, a video-editing subscription starts at $495, an AI ad tool starts at $14, and a UGC video lands between $69 and $375 depending on the route, which what UGC usage rights cost prices out. Upwork's own cost page puts US freelance video editors at $10 to $60 an hour. The top of the market prints no number at all, and that absence is itself a price.

What you get out of this
  1. Every route to a finished ad, each price read off the vendor's own page on the same day
  2. The two vendors at the top of the category that print no number, and what that silence costs a buyer
  3. A calculator that puts any two routes side by side at the asset count you actually need
  4. Where a $14 seat beats us on price, and the work it quietly hands back to you

01What does ad creative cost in the US, by route?

Four families of route, and the monthly prices span three orders of magnitude. A software seat starts at $14. A video-editing subscription starts at $495. A design subscription runs $699 to $4,995. Superside's floor is $15,000 a month on an annual term. Every figure below came off the vendor's own page on September 3, 2026.

The monthly figure hides the thing that decides your budget: what each route makes you supply. Vidpros and VidChops edit footage you already own. A software seat makes material and leaves every hour of briefing, selection and QA with you. A UGC marketplace pays a creator to film once, then prices the usage window separately. The sister journal walks these routes on craft rather than money, in creative subscription, freelancer, or studio.

These sell capacity rather than a count of assets. One daily output, two active workstreams, 42 hours a month. What arrives depends on how fast your queue moves.

Sources, in order: Penji, ManyPixels, Flocksy, Designjoy, Superside and Design Pickle pricing pages; Pencil, HeyGen, Creatify and AdCreative.ai; Trend.io, JoinBrands, Insense, Icon and Brighter Click; Upwork cost pages via the Internet Archive, Vidico, Clutch, and the BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook. All read September 3, 2026 and linked at the foot of this post.

Two of those routes are not really priced at all. JoinBrands prints a floor of $25 or more for a UGC video, then adds a platform fee of 8% to 15% by plan. Insense prints $500 a month, a 10% marketplace fee, and creator pay from $100 a video: three numbers that become a price only once a campaign exists. The usage window is a fourth, and it has its own arithmetic in what UGC usage rights cost.

02The top of the market stopped printing prices

Superside's pricing page prints one number and a fee. Subscriptions "start at a $15,000 monthly minimum on an annual term", the Dedicated plan is "starting at $30,000 a month", and the subscription "includes a monthly budget and a $1,000 software fee". What the page does not print is a turnaround time, a revision policy, or a cancellation term.

Design Pickle prints no dollar figure at all. Flat rate, not hourly, no retainers, and the plan gets sized to what you need on a call. It does print terms, and good ones: most requests come back within one to two business days, revisions are included with no per-change fee, and you can cancel before your next renewal date. I pulled a June 2025 archive copy of the same page to see whether the silence was recent. It was not.

A price you have to book a call to hear is a price that depends on how the call goes.

The rule I price against

That absence costs a buyer two things. The first is a week: book the call, sit through discovery, receive a number with your own answers already priced into it. The second is comparison. You cannot set a quote you had to earn beside a quote anyone can read. For a small buy that skips procurement entirely, how to buy ad creative without an RFP is the short version.

03What does one finished asset cost on each route?

Where the vendor prints a count, division works, and the answer runs from about $30 to $375 for one thing you could put in an ad account. Trend.io does the division itself: $91.67 a video at Starter, $69.14 at Scale. Icon prints $1,000 for six human UGC ads. Brighter Click prints $4,500 for twelve. The sister journal priced these routes on September 1, 2026, in AI ads, UGC creators, or an agency.

Trend.io's two figures and Vidico's are the vendors' own. Collabstr's $154 is what brands on its marketplace paid a creator on average. The Brighter Click, Icon, ManyPixels and VidChops figures are my division of their printed numbers; the ManyPixels one assumes 21 business days and a queue that keeps up.

Four of those eight bars are my arithmetic, not a vendor claim. Collabstr's $154 comes from more than 21,000 collaborations in its own 2026 report, which makes it a marketplace's book on its own supply rather than a survey of the US market. The ManyPixels figure assumes 21 business days and a queue that keeps up.

Cafe - studio demo. One frame from one finished film, and the unit every price above has to be divided into. Not one generation, not one variation inside a batch of forty, not one file you would still be arguing about on Friday. The unit only compares if both sides mean the same thing by it, and vendors quote in whichever unit flatters them.

One pass of the model, producing one candidate. Pencil's Core plan buys 50 a month. A generation is not an approved ad, and none of the tool vendors on this page claims that it is.
CreditAI tools
One unit of tool output, defined by the vendor and only by the vendor. AdCreative.ai calls a credit one generation batch. HeyGen counts credits against video minutes. Two vendors selling credits are selling different things.
Daily outputSubscriptions
One finished piece delivered per business day, when the queue has something in it. ManyPixels Advanced sells one. Over 21 business days that is 21 pieces, and only if you brief every one of those days.
WorkstreamSubscriptions
A parallel lane of work inside a queue. Penji Essentials sells two active ones. It caps how many things can move at once. That is a different promise from how many arrive in a month.
Platform feeCreator marketplaces
A percentage the marketplace takes on top of what the creator is paid. JoinBrands charges 8% to 15% by plan, Insense 7% to 10% by plan, and Collabstr charged 5% to 10% on its archived pricing page.
Usage windowCreator marketplaces
How long you may run the file, and where. Priced apart from the video on most marketplaces. One reason a $69 video and a $375 video can come out of the same afternoon.
Fully loadedIn-house
Salary, plus the employer's benefit cost, plus software seats. The BLS Employer Costs release puts private-industry benefits at 30.1% of total compensation, which is the multiplier a bare salary figure is missing.
Keep rateOurs
The share of delivered work that survives the owner's eye. Ours runs at 43% of the films that clear every automated check. No vendor on this page publishes one, so no per-asset figure here is a price per asset you would actually run.

Put two routes side by side

Move the slider, pick two routes
Route A, a month-
Route B, a month-
The gap, a month-
Worked by hand so you can check it: at 16 assets a month, Trend.io Starter at $91.67 is $1,467 and VidChops Weekly at $30.94 is $495. The gap is $972 a month, or $11,660 a year, on the same asset count. Rates are the ones charted above.

Our own plans sit inside that band rather than under it, but you will not find a figure on our page any more. The number reaches you in the reply, in your own currency, and it arrives with your first finished ad rather than before it: one printed dollar figure cannot be honest to a buyer in Ohio and a buyer in Warsaw at the same time, and every page above prints one anyway. Divide whatever you are quoted by the asset count in your mix and you have the same unit as every row here, which is the only comparison that travels. The line items a monthly agreement should name are in what a creative retainer includes.

04Where a $14 seat beats a studio on price

Pencil's Core plan is $14 a month for 50 generations. HeyGen Creator is $29. AdCreative.ai Starter and Creatify Starter are both $39. A buyer who will write their own briefs, run the tool and throw away their own bad takes can put ads into an account for a tenth of what any studio here charges. That is a real alternative and I will not talk around it. Those prices buy generations. The direction and selection hours stay with you, and they are the expensive part.

Four things a price implies that it does not include

Flip them
None of these are strawmen. All four have been said to me by somebody about to spend money.

The same logic runs the other way against edit-only subscriptions. VidChops Weekly is $495 a month for up to 16 short-form videos, roughly $31 each, and on headline dollars an edit-only subscription beats anyone who shoots and builds the thing from scratch. It also assumes you already own a camera, a shoot and a library to cut from. The comparison is fair only if you do.

05Should you hire someone in-house instead?

At some volume, yes. One in-house film and video editor runs about $9,100 a month once you take the BLS median of $75,420 for May 2025, gross it up by the private-industry benefits share in the Employer Costs release, and add an Adobe seat at $99.99 and a Frame.io seat at $25. That buys one person, no producer, no stills. The full arithmetic, and the honest case for hiring anyway, is the fully loaded cost of an in-house creative hire.

06What the industry publishes instead of a rate

I went looking for the industry number and there is not one. The ANA's Trends in Agency Compensation, 18th edition, has a real stated sample, 101 client-side marketers fielded in the second quarter of 2022, and it measures how agencies get paid rather than what a reel costs.

The $342,000 figure that circulates for a thirty-second commercial has no publisher I could find, and cost per finished ad says why. The denominator that would decide your budget, the share that survives selection, is published by nobody: ours runs at 43%.

Questions people actually ask

Open what you need
How much does it cost to hire an ad agency?

For a US brand buying short-form ad creative in 2026, the published range runs from $495 a month at VidChops to $15,000 a month at Superside's stated minimum, with most productized studios between $699 and $4,995. Traditional agencies mostly do not publish; Clutch's own review data puts advertising agencies at $100 to $149 an hour. The spread is wide because the routes are not selling the same object.

How much do ad agencies charge per hour?

Clutch's directory page, dated the day I read it, puts advertising agencies at $100 to $149 an hour, without disclosing the number of firms behind that. On Upwork, the archived cost page gives video editors a $10 to $60 median band, with an expert tier of $60 to $150 and up, and graphic designers $15 to $35. Hourly rates only price an ad once somebody tells you the hours.

Why don't creative agencies put prices on their websites?

Two live reasons in this market. Superside prints a minimum instead of a price because the plan is assembled from a budget and a mix. Design Pickle prints nothing and sizes the plan on a call, which lets the number follow the account rather than the work. A page with no figure is not hiding a bargain, it is buying itself a conversation before you can compare it to anything.

How much does a marketing agency cost per month?

For creative production alone, published monthly plans in 2026 sit at $495 to $4,995, with Superside's $15,000 minimum above that band. Add media management and the number moves, because you are buying hours rather than assets.

What is the cheapest way to get ad creative made?

A software seat. Pencil Core is $14 a month for 50 generations, HeyGen Creator is $29, AdCreative.ai and Creatify start at $39. Nothing on this page is close on headline price. What you supply instead is the brief, the taste, and the discipline to delete most of what comes out, which is the labor those prices leave on your side of the table.

Is a creative subscription worth it for a small brand?

It depends on whether you can keep the queue full. ManyPixels Advanced at $699 a month for one daily output is around $33 an output if you feed it every business day, and twice that if you feed it half the time. Queue-based pricing rewards a brand with a backlog and punishes one that briefs in bursts.

Every price on this page cost me a fetch and a date stamp. The two vendors at the top of this category will give you neither, and they are betting you will not notice that a number set on a call is a number set on you.
